The tool applies K-weighting filters (per ITU-R BS.1770-4), calculates gated integrated LUFS, True Peak via 4x oversampling, short-term loudness and LU range.
See how your track compares to Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal and Amazon Music normalisation targets — with colour-coded pass/warn/fail status.
// what is LUFS?
LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) is the standard loudness measurement for broadcast and streaming, defined in EBU R 128 / ITU-R BS.1770. Unlike dB peak, LUFS reflects how loud a track actually sounds to human hearing.
Integrated LUFS is the average loudness across the whole track (with gating to ignore silence). Most streaming platforms normalise to around −14 LUFS.
// True Peak vs Integrated
Integrated LUFS measures perceived loudness — how full and loud the track sounds overall. Target: −14 to −16 LUFS for most platforms.
True Peak measures the absolute highest sample value including inter-sample peaks that occur during D/A conversion. Keep True Peak below −1.0 dBTP to avoid clipping on streaming encoders.
// platform normalisation
Every major streaming platform normalises loudness on playback. If your track is louder than their target, they turn it down — you lose no quality. If it's quieter, some platforms turn it up (risking noise floor artefacts).
Mastering to −14 LUFS with True Peak below −1 dBTP is the safe target for Spotify, YouTube and SoundCloud.
// mastering tips
If your Integrated LUFS reads above −9 or below −18, the mix likely has dynamic or limiting issues. Aim for −14 to −16 LUFS integrated with LU Range between 6–12 LU for a well-balanced master.
